Healthcore was thrilled to launch its new non-profit "Together with Tea" program. The first event was the Discovery to Cure Teal Tea Party for ovarian cancer awareness month. The survivors were also invited to a 6-week online health coaching program starting in October. I was honored and proud for my daughter- who is a clinical research coordinator at Memorial Sloan Kettering in gynecologic surgery to be a part of this special day.

The aging adult population is rapidly increasing in the United States and by 2035 people over the age of 65 will outnumber children for the first time in the country’s history. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 85% of older adults have one chronic health condition and 60% have at least two chronic conditions. The growing number of older adults increases the demand for healthcare services. Our current healthcare system is unprepared for the complexity and costs of caring for older adults. Physical and occupational therapists provide holistic approaches to care for the aging adult that can improve, maintain, or restore functional movement, elevate occupational engagement, and enhance the quality of life. This presentation with case studies will explore how rehabilitation in lifestyle medicine is needed in the redesign of healthcare to promote healthy aging, reduce multimorbidity, and decrease healthcare costs.
